The first edition of the KOMCA MUSIC AWARDS succeeded in harmonizing the efforts of both singers and music creators.

In the ceremony, which was held on December 4th at 7:30 PM at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, Producer/Composer Jo Young Soo was honored with the Daesang (Grand Award).

Psy was awarded twice, as he recieved the “Singer Songwritter Award” and the “Hip Hop Award”

The Hallyu Music Award went to group Supernova. Sungje recieved the award and said: “First, we are really thankful to recieve such a good award even though we still lack so much. We want to share this award with those who have worked hard for us: our company family and our staff. We also want to thank our loving parents. And lastly, we want to thank our fans. Also, even though he is not here right now, we want to share this joy with our leader Yunhak. Thank you, we will work harder from now on”

This particular awards ceremony attracted a lot of attention as it didn’t focus just on one side, but honored diverse music fields, however it was slightly dissapointing that many of the awardees weren’t present.

CNBLUE, Miss A and DJ DOC were absent due to personal and professional schedules. Also, Supernova’s leader Yunhak was absent as he is serving in the military, and the rest of the members recieved the award. JYP representative Park Jin Young and SM Entertainment representative Lee Soo Man were busy with drama recordings and overseas events, and sadly they couldn’t attend the ceremony.

The ceremony was opened by the Laser Orchestra, and popular trot singers like Park Sang Chul and Seol Un Do participated. With the performances of Hallyu groups such as Shinee, T-ara and Supernova and ballad singer Baek Ji Young, the atendees could enjoy a diverse show.

Through te first KOMCA Music Awards, the Korean Music Copyright Asociation recognized those who made music that was greatly loved by the public during the period from July of 2010 to June 2011.

During 3 hours, the event was hosted by actor Shin Hyun Jun and singer Horan, and it was covered by channel A.
